Creative Strategies

In an effort to study creative strategies, I was challenged to use a normal, everyday object and modify it in some way. The object I chose was a knife, and the creative strategy that I chose to focus on was the idea of a metaphor or a simile.

The modification I made is very small, and can be hard to notice at first. I digitally replaced a bandage with a knife blade. I wanted this modification to be a commentary on health care.
Recently I had accidentally cut myself with a kitchen knife, so I thought it appropriate to find a creative way to combine the culprate with the cure. I continued to develop this idea, and found a small first aid kit. After laying it out, I knew exactly where I wanted to hide my blade.
Initially it was really poorly done, but once I saw that my vision could work, I then digitally removed the bandage from the open packaging, and after some resizing, color adjustments, shading, and image cropping, I was finally able to produce an image that I was happy with.
